Clear Channel Independent tee's up for the 'birdies'

Following on Clear Channel Outdoor Inc's support of the UNICEF Global AIDS Awareness initiative through the supply of billboard advertising to a value of US$5 million, Clear Channel in South Africa has thrown its weight behind the 2006 Women's World Cup of Golf at Sun City's Gary Player Country Club. They will provide significant outdoor advertising coverage.

The full 20-nation field for the January 20-22 event will feature the strongest field of world class women golfers in the history of the event and includes six Solheim Cup players, 10 of the LPGA Tour's top 30 players and 13 of the top 30 from the Robe di Kappa Ladies European Tour.

World number one Annika Sorenstam is the biggest name headed for Sun City and will represent Sweden along with partner Liselotte Neumann. Another major coup for the tournament is the presence of 19 year old American Paula Creamer, second to Sorenstam on the ADT Official Money list, and sixth ranked Natalie Gulbis both of whom competed in the Solheim Cup this year.

South Africa's golfing legend, Laurette Maritz will partner Ashleigh Simon and will carry the flag for South Africa along with stars from no fewer than twenty countries from Australia to Wales.
