For Greenpop, the grass is greener with Houdt

Established four years ago, Greenpop, a locally based tree planting initiative, has worked with opinion leaders in different communities, launching the "Treevolution" campaign which aims to rejuvenate eroded lands by providing people with technical training in tree planting and equipping them with skills to create sustainable living solutions by adopting greener habits.

Greenpop Founder, Misha Teasdale, commented saying, "On a daily basis a countless number of trees are cut down in various industries and to make up for the world's loss of trees in the past decade, we need to plant about 14 billion trees every year for 10 years in a row. Our aim is to educate people about the importance of planting trees as a way to remove carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases from the air, but more importantly we want to leave behind a legacy where we are able to create a self-sustaining community through going green and preserving our natural resources.

"Recognising the threat of deforestation, Houdt has pledged to support the planting of trees through the sale of its products."

To get involved in the "Treevolution", people can pledge monthly trees or simply join the company planting activities, where a team goes out to plant trees in a designated area. Greenpop also offers internships and has a dedicated volunteering program.
