"It was always our passion to start a conversation locally and to engage with some thought leaders and ordinary people just like us to test the merit of an African Dream. Perhaps, more importantly, we are hoping to test the value of entrepreneurship as a tool which unlocks the doors to success and prosperous living in this continent," says Bongani, best known as Bongs, presenter on Radio 2000.

The summit will host the Rwandan High Commissioner Vincent Karega and Tumisho Masha and Thami Ngubeni will facilitate the panel discussions.

    Speakers include:

      • HHP - local hip hop artist and self-proclaimed Africanist
      • Lebo Motshegoa - Managing Director of black research agency Foshizi
      • Sylvan Kimaryo - Speaker, author and founder of Conscious Leadership Coaching
      • Yvonne Chaka Chaka: World-renown musician, businesswoman and UNICEF Ambassador

      • Selwyn Watkins: Former CFO of MTN Africa and SAB Miller Africa Business Development

The Afreakan Dream team - the Nxumalo family of four - will be embarking on a journey through Africa at the end of August 2015 to continue this conversation through the SADC Region, establishing networks and fostering relationships that will enable future summits in each of the respective countries in 2016.

"It may have been easier for us to simply do our desktop research, engage on emails or telecons, but the most authentic manner to engage in this important discussion is to get a personal experience of these different countries. Living within these communities, seeing how they interact with their environment, from social, political and economic point of view, will give us unique insights into the content and range of speakers we will need to expand the Afreakan Dream Summit's footprint," says Rejoice.

This inaugural Summit has already seen corporate support with Langham's Lifestyle Estate coming on board as a venue sponsor. The conference venue management believes in the need for these important conversations and was delighted at the opportunity to offer its clean green venue as an ideal location conducive to promoting the African Dream.
