Described as a global television first, CNBC Africa will be opening the doors not only to the new state of the art television studio but opening up the inside of the JSE to the continent, every weekday. Viewers will see shows like Open Exchange, Power Lunch and Closing Bell from the floor of Africa's biggest stock exchange.

The day kicked off with a breakfast cocktail and ceremonial ribbon cutting followed by an all-day CNBC Africa activation at the JSE, closing with a high-profile cocktail in the evening, all revolving around the first day of live broadcast on DStv channel 410.

Part of the plan since 2007

"This project was part of our plan since 2007 and we were finally able to see it to fruition with the shared vision of the CEO of the JSE, Nicky Newton-King," says Roberta Naicker, Managing Director of the ABN group. "This initiative will see us create additional capacity within our existing infrastructure and increase television production capacity to up to 14 hours of African content per day; a target that we hope to accomplish in the coming years," concludes Naicker.

Going forward, CNBC Africa's daily markets programming will move to the studios at the JSE opening up CNBC Africa's Studio 1 and 2 in Sandton to panel discussions and recordings with a live audience, increasing the channels content capacity.
