A wave of panic has hit the public media following the dismissal of Zambia Daily Mail news editor Newton Sibanda.

Sibanda has been sent packing for allegedly failing to keep his house together with some more politically connected reporters having engineered his way out. The Zambia Daily Mail has been on the spot as the new regime sets out to re-align the public media landscape.

On his Facebook page, Sibanda posted; "I am no longer with the Zambia Daily Mail. I was retired yesterday. I thank management for the opportunity and friends I met at ZDM for the time spent together."

There have been subtle shakeups that have included weeding out elements deemed to have been stuck with the old order while the new regime has been working hard to put its signature on goings on. Sibanda is a long serving staffer at the Zambia Daily Mail and has held different positions.

His deputy Jerry Munthali who is allegedly the master-minder of Sibanda's exit is expected to take over in an acting capacity.

The move has sent some public media heads panicking fearing that there is a huge shake-up coming.
