On the 27th August, minister in the presidency, Collins Chabane announced the expiry of the contract of Mr Manyi and bids farewell. Responding to the announcement, the MDDA CEO, Lumko Mtimde said, "I would like to take this opportunity to thank and salute Mr Manyi for the sterling work done as the accounting officer of the GCIS, in allowing the agency to tap onto his vast knowledge and experience. The MDDA hopes to continue counting on his support in its mammoth challenge of transforming South Africa's media landscape making it accessible to the previously marginalised. Having personally worked with Mr. Manyi, I can attest to his passion, dedication and good leadership."
Mr Mtimde said Mr Manyi (as the accounting officer of the GCIS) supported the MDDA during its presentations to the presidency and to parliament, as required by the MDDA Act and the PFMA Act. Mr Manyi supported the cause of media development and diversity, the promotion of the right to freedom of expression and access to information for all, as enshrined in our constitution.
The agency will continue to rely on the support of the GCIS in growing, developing and diversifying media in South Africa under the leadership of the office of the presidency.
