Our client in the motor industry is looking for a project manager. The ideal candidate is a critical thinker and arranger who manages project scope, schedules, costs, resources, quality, deadlines, communications, and risks. The project manager has the primary responsibility of delivering projects across the business that match customer business objectives.
 
The project manager is the key point of contact for all team members, ensuring that everyone is working towards the same objectives and that there is excellent communication in the team. A key quality in the project manager is being able to lead and motivate the team towards achieving the set goals.
 
Communication skills will be invaluable as you will have to serve as a liaison among stakeholders to expedite project processes successfully.
 
Responsibilities:  

The duties/tasks of the function include but is not limited to:
  • Management of the project team and a collaborative approach to create strong working relationships with regional team members.
  • Manage existing customer consultancy tasks and projects.
  • Partner with business development to create more streamlined sales to implementation/consulting processes. This will allow for better expectations with clients in the pre-sale process which will ultimately enable the sales team to predict resources needed to reach all project objectives accurately.
  • Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan in line with the customer expectations, using the desired tool and ensuring that this tool is always kept up to date.
  • Direct, and coordinate all activities of client engagements to ensure that project goals are accomplished.
  • Assigning resources and managing the projects to ensure project deadlines are met, all while tracking worked vs estimated hours and flagging risks.
  • Tracking resource utilisation and flagging any concerns to the regional managers to address shortcomings.
  • Manage contracts with suppliers by assigning tasks and communicating expected deliverables.
  • Provide regular project updates to the management team.
  • Monitor project progress and adjust dates as needed to ensure that due dates are always kept updated to enable accurate forecasting of completion dates.
  • Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement, and where required implement such improvements.
  • Track project costs in order to meet the budget.
  • Identify project risks and scope creep, and proactively take action to mitigate, quote and manage risk appropriately.
  • Manage multiple projects, while prioritising work accordingly. Utilise industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout the entire project execution.
  • Successfully work in conjunction with all other departments to successfully achieve its objectives.
  • Travelling within South Africa and any other countries to successfully fulfil the outputs of this role.
Inherent requirements of the job:  
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Exposure to the motor industry would be ideal.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Fully bilingual (Afrikaans and English), both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to solve problems creatively.
  • Proven ability to be the change management leader.
  • Strong familiarity with project management software tools (JIRA), methodologies, and best practices.
  • Experience seeing projects through the full life cycle, using technology to their benefit.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills to make important decisions quickly.
  • Experience with SaaS-based solutions would be preferential.
  • Excellent at conflict resolution and problem-solving when working with stakeholders.
  • Extremely organised and able to multitask.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful and adaptable.
  • Ability to make timely and informed decisions, along with taking the accountability that goes with them.
