The South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP) is a statutory body established by section 2 of the Project and Construction Management Act (Act No.48 of 2000). It has been established to advance Construction Management and Project Management education, provide for statutory professional certification and regulation of the Project and Construction Management Professions to protect the public interest.
The Act empowers SACPCMP to keep a national register of persons registered in terms of the Act and further empowers SACPCMP to take any steps it considers necessary for the enhancement of the status of the Project and Construction Management professions. It is in this vein that the SACPCMP will now have to regularly call on relevantly skilled individuals to assist in evaluating qualifications related to the Project and Construction Management as well as Construction Health and Safety.
What does the process of qualifications evaluations entail
The process of qualifications evaluations would amongst others entail the following:
A thorough working knowledge of the SACPCMP registration criteria.
Contact with the relevant parties.
Analysis and evaluation of documents submitted and relevance.
Regular updates to the Qualifications evaluation Committee regarding the findings.
Research on any necessary technical information.
Compile and present comprehensive reports upon completion of the qualifications evaluations to the relevant Committee, if necessary.
SACPCMP is calling for Expressions of Interest from relevantly qualified individuals with relevant experience, to be included in the SACPCMP panel of qualifications evaluators. To be considered as a potential expert, the requirements for being considered are as follows:
Have a minimum five years of conducting qualifications evaluations in a similar environment.
Have bachelor’s degree in project and construction management, Built Economics, Construction Health and Safety, Building Inspection or Qualifications evaluation related (NQF 7) from a recognised University.
A qualified registered Assessor and experience in Institutions of Higher Learning assessments in South Africa a must
Working knowledge of SAQA and CHE is compulsory.
Qualified registered as a Moderator will be an added advantage.
Must be willing to attend any training for qualifications evaluators that SACPCMP may arrange from time to time.
Experience of carrying out qualifications evaluations and assessments with Institutions of Higher Learning will have an added advantage.
Experience of working with SACPCMP or other Built Environment Councils in carrying out assessments will be advantageous.
