I have been journalists for more than 22 years.I worked for Zambia News Agency now called ZANIS and Times of Zambia up to the position of News Editor. I hold a diploma in Journalism and advertising and done various short courses. Currentlypresident of Press association of Zambia (PAZA).
Show profile Hide profileAm 50 years old, I did a three year course in journalism and advertising at Evelyn hone college in Lusaka Zambia. I have also done short coursesin press law and ethics, Investigative journalism, court reporting, news agency reporting, business reporting, newsroom management e.t.c
I worked for Zambia news agenecy for one year in 1990 and joined Times of Zambia in Janaury 1991. Was promoted to Chief reporter for Kitwe office in 1994. This office covered three provinces in the northern part of Zambia and had eight journalists who covered sports, business and News.
In 2002, I was promoted to Deputy news editor and in 2005 was promoted to p[roduction Editor and in 2006 was made News editor until december 2010. During this time I sat on management committee and was involved in various aspects of decision and policy making.
I was actively involved in trade union and held position of national trustee in the Zambia Union of Journalists (ZUJ). During this time I was involved in collecetives bargaining for salaries and conditions of service for ZUJ members.
Am currently president of PAZA and in this period have led PAZA submissions of the constitution review commission which submissions were adopted and are in the current draft consitution. Have also made submission to parliament on behalf of PAZA on wide raging media issues. I have also chaired and conducted workshops.
Am still involved in lobbying for the enenactment of Access To Information (ATI) law as well as general reveiw of media legislation and policies.
Am freelacing but looking for new challenges both in the print and electronic media.
