Spearheaded by Anelisa Mangcu – a curator and growing force in the art community – Orms Circle is a collective of creatives and industry professionals including Haneem Christian, Tyra Naidoo, Toby Orford and Savannah Feeke, who will mentor the selected artist in a variety of fields.
Strong support system
Orms Circle will provide the artist with not only a strong support system imparting a flow of industry insight, knowledge and guidance to everyone involved, but will also allow them to create and exhibit their first solo exhibition, hosted at Form - Orms’s new creative space.
Orms Circle will also grant the artist the opportunity to create a body of work with the support of the mentors, as well as their first solo exhibition which will be hosted in the new Orms building and curated with the help of Anelisa Mangcu.
This will include studio space, lighting and gear as well as printing and framing services and other additional requirements. The criteria for entry include a portfolio submission and motivational essay by the interested artist, which will be used during the selection process.
Besides, the interested artist must already be actively pursuing a career in the arts through a photographic medium.
Applications are open until the end of August 2019 and will be announced at an event to mark the launch of the mentorship programme beginning on September 2019. Apply via the submission form.
Important to note that applications are open to South African residents, however, if the winning applicant is not based in Cape Town, they will be responsible for their own travel and accommodation.
