Show profile Hide profileI’ve been in radio since 1996, growing through the industry from grassroots community stations to national broadcasters. My earliest formal role was at The Voice of Soweto in 1998, where I hosted a show called The Flip Side of Things. It wasn’t just about being on-air, I was also responsible for station imaging and played a key role in training up and coming presenters. That period shaped much of my approach to both the creative and technical sides of broadcasting.
When The Voice of Soweto closed down, I stepped back briefly, but radio has always had a strong pull. In 2001, I returned as Head of Imaging at Trans Africa Radio, an African syndicate station focused on continental storytelling. This role deepened my experience in building brand sound and managing multi-platform imaging in a radio syndicating environment.
In 2003, I joined Kaya FM, where I worked as Imaging Specialist and Technical Producer for the late Bob Mabena’s weekday breakfast show. That was a defining chapter, working alongside a broadcasting legend sharpened my instincts for timing, content flow, and the importance of sound design in shaping a station’s identity.
By 2006, I was ready for the next level and moved to Metro FM as an Imaging Specialist and Technical Producer. Metro FM gave me the platform to push creative boundaries and work on high-impact content for one of South Africa’s biggest urban stations.
In 2012, I joined Radio 2000, bringing with me years of hands-on experience in production, imaging, and technical execution. My focus has always been on crafting sound that speaks clearly to audiences whether through compelling imaging, strong technical production, or mentoring younger voices behind the mic.
Today, I’m based at Channel Africa as Imaging Specialist and Technical Director. I also serve as the station voice and oversee all copywriting, ensuring the station’s tone, identity, and messaging are consistent across platforms. My work combines creative direction, hands-on technical execution, and the ability to deliver a sound that’s clean, bold, and distinctly African.
