"The constant focus on the benefits of healthier foods in the youth market was the motivation for us to get involved in this competition," says Redro's brand manager, Neil Meyer. "We wanted to emphasis the benefits of the product by teaching kids to make healthier food choices while testing their skills in the kitchen."
Children aged 14 and under, entered in the following categories: Brain and Body Fuel, Party Snacks, Perfect Padkos or Outdoor Food and Weird But True Sandwich.
The four top chefs continue their culinary journey with prizes valued at over R3 000 each which includes baking and cooking kits, a year's membership of The Cooking Club for Kids and a Snappy Chef induction stove with heat-resistance hot plate, from The Cooking Club for Kids. The first thirty entrants also received a year's free membership of The Cooking Club for Kids.
"The standard of entries that we've received this year was excellent," says NG Kids editor, Fiona Thomson. "This could be attributed to the rise and interest in cooking shows and contests that motivated our readers to put their own twists on ordinary dishes."
